In all of thirty seconds, I was completely taken with this song. The simplicity of an acoustic guitar being finger picked is something I will always wholeheartedly love. The acoustic sounds aren’t the only thing that make this song wonderful though. Phil Wickham paints a beautiful scene for us with his voice. It’s an image of the grace, love, and glory of God. An image of the overwhelming satisfaction a relationship with God brings. An image of God lavishing on us all He has to offer. An image of us responding with praises. An image of the joy a romance so divine as the one between Christ and His church brings to both the groom and bride.
This past week, Divine Romance made its return to my favorites list. God has used it to point my heart towards Him. He’s used it to keep my focus where it needs to be. He’s used it to draw my heart closer to His. He’s brightened my days with reminders of the uniqueness of the relationship we share and how very much He loves me.
It’s the little things He does that keep me going. This past week, this song just happened to be one of them.
