I’ve found it. I have found the Christian band whose music is on pointe with my taste. Now, this is one of their more upbeat songs, but it still holds true to the band’s more acoustic, blended sounds. Perhaps this song can help explain why, when someone asks me what kind of music I like, I’m left unsure of how to answer. Songs like this one, where several genres of lighter music have been blended together so seamlessly, are what I love. Enough about my preferences when it comes to the music I listen to on repeat though.
Rend Collective sings: “You’re the joy, joy joy.”
You. You being God, in this case.
”You’re the joy…”
Not the size tag on an article of clothing. Not the grade at the top of the latest school assignment. Not net calories consumed. Not goal weights. Not anything. But God.
Now, that’s not to say that we can’t find pleasure and delight in other things. God fully intended for us to enjoy the many gifts He has to offer us during our time on earth. Ultimately though, at the end of a hard day when maybe you weren’t blessed with any worldly prizes, He’s our joy. That brick smacked me out of left field this week, and I have Rend Collective to thank for it.
