Heading into a new semester, I was a little anxious. You can talk to upperclassman and other peers about which professors and classes to take all you want, but until you’re in a class yourself, you never quite know what you’re getting into. Because I know myself and I know I have a tendency to put too much on my plate, I made a real effort to take a lighter class load this semester.
Based off of week one, I think I succeeded in that endeavor! I didn’t realize how much I was juggling last semester until I came into this one. I’ve been getting adequate sleep every night, and have taken naps several days as well. Last Sunday, I didn’t open a single textbook, and I have no plans of doing so today either. I actually had a day of Sabbath rest and was able to worship without my mind running off onto everything needing to be done. It was a really great way to start the semester.
I’m honestly so thankful for the manageability of the semester so far. I’m learning that rest is so important and such a blessing in our lives. Without time to sit still, we burn out. I know that life is going to become busier as we get further into the semester, but I’m praying for continued manageability.
Based on the first two weeks back, this semester is going to be a good one. I’m enjoying all of my classes, loving being reunited with the friends I made last semester, and am ecstatic to start preparing for a trip abroad I’ll be taking in May (may post more about that later).
We’ve only been back on the mountain for two weeks, and God has already brought me so much delight in academics, the weather (we got SNOW), relationships, and the community I’m a part of. I’m just so content with where I am, and it’s reassuring to know that I’m where I’m supposed to be. I was unsure of this school initially. It was my last choice, and the farthest from home. It was kind’ve scary to pick this place when I did so last March, but looking back, I’m so glad I trusted the Father who has my life in His hands. I’ve been able to rest in that since being back, and it’s been a beautiful thing.

I’m so happy to hear your second semester is off to a great start! This is a great reminder about rest and how important it is… especially the rest we can find in Christ. 🙂
