In whatever way an eating disorder presents itself, the bottom line is that disordered eating reveals a broken relationship with not only food but also with God. The created world is broken, and eating disorders are just one presentation of brokenness. I don’t stop to think about this often, because I really don’t stop to think about and pursue much these days thanks to letting business overwhelm me and stop me from meditating on certain lines of thought.
The beauty of fellowship and of the blogging world is that we can hear others’ meditations on ideas we haven’t taken the time to think through deeply, and that is why I loved this post by Peggy Miller, author of Living LovED!
In the post, Peggy begins to develop a helpful theology of food and talks about food reminding us of our neediness, food pointing to our freedom, food revealing God’s grace, and mealtime being a consistent and crucial way we fellowship with others.
